My Beautiful Sister {Tulsa Maternity Session}

Since becoming a mom, I look at life a lot differently. A pregnant woman holding new life inside of her has become so incredible and precious to me, when before, I didn’t even give much thought to it.  The fact that a human grows from a teeny tiny little fertilized egg to an actual baby inside of our bellies is amazing.  I guess I’m just remembering back to my own pregnancy and the feelings that came with it. When I first found out I was pregnant, it was surreal, and I didn’t even really believe it because I didn’t “feel” pregnant.  We went to our first doctor’s appointment, had an ultrasound, got to hear the heartbeat and actually see our baby moving around, which was amazing. But even after all that, it still didn’t feel real. I was kind of excited, but mostly scared. It wasn’t until we found out we were having a girl that it became a little more real to me. And just a few weeks later when I felt her move inside me for the first time, it was over. A human being was inside of me and moving! As my pregnancy went on, the more the excitement took over and the fears subsided.  I just couldn’t wait to see her and hold her and love on her.  I can’t even describe the emotions I felt the first time I laid eyes on her.  Her ginormous cheeks, tiny little hands and feet, sweet little lips, and beautiful eyes all just took my breath away.  I would (and still do sometimes) sit and stare at her in awe.  She was perfect and she was mine.  And so now when I see a pregnant woman, all those feelings come back to me and it truly warms my heart thinking about how much they have to look forward to.  And that was exactly what I was thinking when I found out my sister was having a baby!

Chelsey is my middle sister, and growing up, me and her fought a lot! We’re not talking about fighting with words here, people.  Although that happened as well. I’m talking about knock-down drag-out, fist punching, nails scratching, hair pulling, grabbing anything you could get your hands on to throw at each other fights! During one of our fights while I was in high school (and 1 week before the prom, I might add), she chunked a water bottle at me that hit me in the side of the face and gave me a black eye. Honestly, I don’t even remember what the fight was about, but, knowing me, I probably deserved it. So, needless to say, we didn’t get along too well as youngsters. But all that has changed as we’ve grown up.  Chelsey is so fun and funny, not to mention absolutely beautiful on the inside and out.  She has a heart full of love for the underdogs of this world, people that need just a little bit more help, encouragement and care.  And all that will come in handy very soon when her sweet baby Willow arrives :)  I absolutely cannot wait to meet my precious niece!

So, of course, I had to get some shots of her and that adorable baby belly of hers! We both braved our fear of snakes and went frolicking in a field to get these shots :) Hope you enjoy!
